New singers are invited to attend our first rehearsal in the spring or fall. After the rehearsal, the audition will consist of singing portions of a rehearsed piece. At that time, I will check for good pitch and choral reading skills. (If you can't make that rehearsal, call or e-mail Doreen for another audition time.) |

| Experience or other requirements | It would be good to have choral experience. I appreciate a good, trained voice but am happy to work with anyone that loves to sing and has good pitch. If you can read music or play any musical instrument, that is a plus. |
| Audition procedure | I will hear phrases from a piece that we have practiced, and ask to hear a piece like "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" a cappella, to establish pitch and range; and possibly in a round with another singer. |

| Other commitments | Singers must be dressed in our special costume. Ladies wear a black top and skirt which is available for purchase. Men wear black tuxedos. Music will be provided but be purchased by each singer. There is a $2 fee each time for the rehearsal space. |

| Profile | The "Doreen Irwin Singers" consists of many outstanding singers from her former Sacramento City College Choir. That group had traveled to and performed in 17 different countries and performed at Carnegie Hall under Doreen's direction. Post-retirement, Doreen gathered the group together.....adding on many fine singers, and has performed with the Folsom Symphony and the Sacramento Youth Symphony, performed Carmina Burana for the Sacramento Ballet, and performed their own concert at Carnegie Hall on Memorial Day, 2015. They performed that repertoire at Harris Center the following June. The group sings all styles of music, usually doing a major work at Christmas, in addition to traditional Christmas pieces, sacred and secular. They will also prepare a concert in the spring. Doreen likes to feature outstanding soloists in all styles of music. There will probably be a Super Solo Concert during the year to show off interested singers, and to fund raise. |
