"The Placer Pops Chorale, led by
Artistic/Musical Director Lorin Miller, showcases professional-quality,
highly entertaining choral music. This auditioned group, with its own
orchestra, presents two major concert series each year, in May and in
December, along with special appearances and benefit performances,
including the annual, free A Gift of the Heart 'Homeland' concert
celebrating the 4th of July. Sung entirely from memory, the Chorale’s
repertoire represents a variety of styles, with a strong emphasis on the
popular music of the last 75 years, including the best of Broadway and
Hollywood. Established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the
Chorale attracts talented multi-generational singers to the group, and
draws scores of music lovers to its high-energy concerts – often sold
out weeks in advance. Under Lorin’s inspired leadership, the Chorale has
become known for its varied and innovative programs. Enhanced by
creative costuming, staging and choreography, the Chorale consistently
delivers a magical theater experience"
"Now in his fourteenth year as
Artistic/Musical Director of the Placer Pops Chorale, Lorin Miller
brings a distinguished background as a solo performer, music educator,
and choral director. In addition to his work with the Chorale, Lorin
serves as the Executive Musical Director and co-founder of A Gift of the
Heart, a Placer County performing arts organization, and is on the voice
faculty at William Jessup University in Rocklin. A California native,
Lorin was raised in Grass Valley, where his childhood participation in
the arts sparked a lifelong love of music and music education,
culminating in his ongoing commitment to the Placer Pops Chorale and to
its Scholarship Program for young performers. Lorin holds a master’s
degree in Humanities, with a music performance concentration. He
produced, recorded and toured with a solo album before pursuing film
scoring at UCLA. Following his successful career in Hollywood television
production, Lorin returned to his roots and to his love of music. Lorin
has been a soloist with the Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra, and
he has performed nationally and internationally, throughout Europe and
Asia, in a variety of styles from Bach to Broadway. This extensive solo
career has included European tours with the A Gift of the Heart outreach
program to Slovenia each year, and with the Sacramento Choral Society
and Orchestra to Vienna, Prague, Budapest and Munich. In June of 2017,
Lorin led the Placer Pops Chorale on a spectacular singing tour of
Slovenia as part of a European celebration of the 500th anniversary of
the Reformation. The Chorale performed to packed houses who thoroughly
enjoyed the group's 'taste of America.' Prior European singing tours
included Barcelona, Spain, in July of 2014, and four cities throughout
Ireland in July of 2012." |
