The Sacramento Choral Calendar

Davis-Sacramento Sacred Harp

First Meet-up
Description:  “A new shape note singing group for the Sacramento region. Meetings will be held once a month, are free to attend, and open to singers, new and experienced. We sing songs in four-part harmony in the Sacred Harp tradition from two books: The Shenandoah Harmony and The Sacred Harp (Denson).

“This monthly singing will be the only singing in the Sacramento area to sing from the The Shenandoah Harmony, which includes hymns, odes and anthems which draw from the choral and folk traditions of 19th century America. Shape note singing is a living tradition with a vibrant community of singers across the US and abroad. We are not a religious organization. Our members come from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds."
