"World population is expected to reach 10
billion by 2050 yet the average age of the American farmer is nearly 60,
and less than 2% of college students are enrolled in agriculture and
natural resources majors. With your attendance, our spring concerts will
provide support and raise awareness for the Center for Land Based
Learning, a non-profit charity dedicated to inspiring, educating, and
cultivating future generations of farmers, agricultural leaders and
natural resource stewards. The nation urgently needs a new crop of
farmers and food system entrepreneurs, and the Center for Land-Based
Learning is inspiring youth to give agriculture a chance, believing the
answer lies in cultivating opportunity.
"Sharing the stage with us this season
is a wonderful musician and songwriter; the Sacramento based bassist and
singer Casey Lipka. Born and raised in Venice, California, Casey draws
from multiple genres including rock, pop, jazz, folk, and world music to
create her own eclectic sound. Featuring vocals, bass, guitar and drums,
her music is influenced by Little Dragon, Becca Stevens and Baden
Powell. Once you hear Casey once, you'll be hooked. We were."
